To coincide with the 60th anniversary of AMOA this year, and also to tie in with the ongoing series of jukebox giveaways at Expo, the association is planning to feature a stunning Wurlitzer 1100 as the headliner among a trio of boxes to be awarded during random drawings at the September 10-12, 2008 show in Las Vegas.
What a beauty! The sequel to Model 1015 was introduced in 1948--yes, the very same year that a group of jukebox operators banded together to form the Music Operators of America (MOA), forerunner of AMOA.
The 1100 contained many features that would be incorporated into future models, such as lightweight tone arm and a pre-amplifier. It was the first jukebox to use a ceramic cartridge rather than a magnetic one and had more changing color area than any of the previously-manufactured Wurlitzer models.
More details on the date and place during Expo for the drawing will be forthcoming, but ALL AMOA member attendees will be eligible to win this special jukebox classic. |

As noted in this week's Off-The-Top introduction, AMOA is in the midst of developing a new service program that will offer members a very low-cost entree into having a presence on the Internet
In essence, AMOA will be offering members hands-on help in creating a website for their company...at a minimal cost. Using a template that was created in the developmental phase of this program, members will be provided with a website address, accompanied by a series of pages that will contain information on the member's company and services.
AMOA is finalizing the details with WebCampOne, owned by AMOA Past President Jim Pietrangelo, who will work directly with interested members on creating the site. AMOA is working to make it as easy and quick as possible for itsmembers to have a website. Right now, the envisioned price tag is $50for creation of the site, with a $50 annual renewal fee.
More details will be forthcoming, but if you as an AMOA member havewanted to tell your customers to "visit our website for moreinformation about us," you will soon no longer have any excuses!

Among the highlights of the annual AMOA Expo are the daily drawings as part of the Wayne E. Hesch Scholarship Program.
For more than 20 years, AMOA has been conducting a raffle program at its annual show, with the proceeds going to fund scholarships--mostly directed to college- age students who have a connection to coin-op.
Since its inception in 1985, nearly $900,000 in scholarships have been awarded! For this school year (2008-09), 50 students will receive $1,000 scholarships as part of the program.
At the 2008 Expo, on the final day of the show--Friday, September 12--one lucky holder of a Hesch raffle ticket will win a brand new Polaris Ranger all-terrain vehicle (ATV) as the grand prize of the Wayne E. Hesch raffle program.
Winners need not be present, and this is just one of many prizes to be awarded during the three daily drawings at the Hesch booth during the show. Most of the prizes are equipment donated by exhibitors at the show.
To purchase tickets--$25 each or $100 for five--please contact Renie Buttermore at: 800-937-2662. We urge you to support the Hesch program--one of the industry's longest-running, worthwhile philanthropic activities.

Silverstone Golf Club has been selected as the course for the annual AMOA Coin-Op Cares Charity Golf Outing this fall.
Details on the format and other logistics are being worked out, but mark your calendars for this event that will commence at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9 (the day before the opening of the 2008 AMOA International Expo) at the course in northwest Las Vegas.
Last year, nearly 120 golfers participated in the industry tournament at Siena Golf Club. More than $5,000 was raised for the Coin-Op Cares Education & Charitable Foundation, which focuses on the support of education, charitable organizations and disaster relief.
For more information about the outing, contact Jack Kelleher at AMOA's toll-free 800-937-2662 phone number.
