Texan Corrals Mustang as Players Defy Odds to Win

Mike Kelley from Cypress, Texas was among those winners who just “felt something.”

"I was messing with my friends and joking about how crazy it would be if I won the car," recalls the 46-year-old sheet metal fabricator.

On May 25, Kelley found himself watching the Silver Strike Bowler's Club sweepstakes countdown clock with his wife and friends at Uncle Albert’s in Cypress.  Though he had never watched the countdown before, all his friends were anxious to see who won the 2007 Mustang – the biggest sweepstakes prize ever offered by IT. 

Kelley and his wife, Cindy, play the game every Friday night and he had accumulated 167 entries for the May drawing, but since there were over 1.5 million entries he honestly didn't think he had a shot.

Then his name popped up on the screen!

"It's just incredible," Kelley said.  "I've never won anything before."

On June 19 that all changed.  In front of friends and family at Uncle Albert's, Kelley was handed the keys to a brand-new 2007 Mustang that he picked out from Mac Haik Ford in Houston – black with matching black leather and a powerful V-6 engine.  A true dream car. 

The winning SSBC machine is owned by Houston-based operator R & M Vending.  Owners Robert and Marie McGowan were on-hand for the event and were thrilled that Kelley had won the sweepstakes on one of their games.

"It’s great to see someone win a big prize like a Mustang on one of our machines," Robert McGowan commented.  "We have a group of people who are dedicated to the game and keep coming back.  Hopefully this will encourage more people to play and try to win."
