IRVING, TX — CEC Entertainment, parent company of the Chuck E. Cheese's chain, said first quarter 2008 revenues increased to $245.2 million from $232.9 million in the same period of 2007. The to were attributed to new store development and a 3.6% increase in comparable store sales.

Net income for the quarter rose to $32.9 million, compared with $32.0 million in the same period of 2007. Executives said they were pleased with a "strong sales performance in a difficult consumer environment." CEC said 10 or 12 new units will open this year, half corporate-owned and half franchised. The company projects 1% to 2% same-store sales increases for 2008 and expects to reinvest up to $85 million for the year.
